The Nockalm Road is open from the beginning of May until the end of October. The road is closed in the winter months, since it is not driveable due to its location. Ticket prices depend on which vehicle you want to use on the Nockalm Road. Please enquire about opening times, prices and current weather conditions before travelling.

CAR = Passenger cars up to 8 people, excluding the driver; trucks up to 2000 kg tare weight.
E-CAR = electric car and hydrogen car. Not a hybrid vehicle. To make it easier to recognise an electric or hydrogen car, please show your registration certificate at the cash point.

Season ticket

Season tickets are valid from the first day of the season until winter closing, but no later than December 31 of the year issued.
They can only be purchased for private vehicles (not for company cars, taxis and rental cars and car-sharing vehicles or other commercial uses). Classification is determined by vehicle registration certificate only (Austrian Terms of Vehicle Use 01).

Tour ticket

Includes a day ticket for the Grossglockner, Gerlos and Nockalm Road and entitles you to purchase a reduced ticket at a price of EUR 13,00 for the Villacher Alpine Road. Available at the cash points on the individual roads and in advance sales at the ÖAMTC, ARBÖ and ADAC branches at a price of EUR 49,00.
Motorhome

The category “car” includes motor homes up to 3500 kg (GVWR) and caravan combinations with a towing vehicle up to 3500 kg GVWR. Motor homes and caravans with towing vehicles from 3500 kg to 7500 kg GVWR are categorized as “Truck 1”; over 7500 kg GVWR are categorized as “Truck 2”.

EXPLANATION OF THE BUS PRICES

Bus prices are based on the actual number of passengers carried, excluding the driver and one tour guide. However, the cashier may check the vehicle to verify this information. If the specified number of persons is incorrect, then instead of the group rate, the adult rate will be charged for the actual number of seats stated in the vehicle’s registration certificate.
For group trips of schoolchildren or adolescents up to the age of 18, the child rate will be charged. One accompanying adult is free per 10 children.

Other important information

  • With a day ticket you can use the road serveral times a day - i.e., enter and exit at the cash points.  
  • If you are staying the night in accommodation along the road, you don’t have to pay any extra upon exit – even after a longer stay. 
  • Camping is not permitted by the authorities along the Nockalm Road and there are no approved campsites in the vicinity of the road. 
  • Your licence plate details will automatically be captured via video camera at the cash points. 
  • With the Carithia Card you can use the Nockalm Road once per day, incl. all the Biosphere Reserve facilities. For any person/s in the vehicle who are not Carinthia Card holders, there is a charge of € 6 per person.
